Process points
The titanium rolling process is a key step in the production of titanium alloys, which directly affects the microstructure and macroscopic properties of the material. The following are some key points of the titanium alloy rolling process:
Rolling temperature control:
The rolling temperature window of titanium alloys is narrow and the thermal conductivity is poor, so the slab temperature control is very critical. Too high rolling temperature or excessive rolling deformation may cause the temperature in the center area of the rolled piece to rise sharply, causing poor plasticity and uneven rolling.
Multi-pass rolling:
The rolling of titanium alloy plates usually requires multiple hot rolling passes, which is suitable for controlling the microstructure and properties of the material. Annealing treatment may be required between each pass to restore the plasticity of the material.
The thickness of the material is gradually reduced through multiple rolling passes.
Reduction rate distribution:
During the rolling process, the distribution of reduction rate has a significant effect on the anisotropy of the material. For example, when the reduction rate distribution of the horizontal and vertical rolling passes is 1:1, the anisotropy of the material is basically eliminated.
Rolling speed:
Rolling speed affects the temperature distribution of the slab, and thus affects the rolling quality and production efficiency. In the initial rolling stage, low speed is generally used to prevent accidents caused by biting; as the rolled piece becomes thinner, the rolling speed can be increased, but usually does not exceed a certain value.
Rolling equipment:
The use of advanced rolling equipment, such as fast transverse reversible units, continuous rolling units, precision rolling mills and modular rolling mills, can improve rolling efficiency and product quality.
Automation control system
Develop a full-process fully automatic control system to achieve temperature-controlled and rolling automation production, and improve the automation and intelligence level of the production process.
New rolling process
Using a three-roll Y-type rolling mill instead of a traditional two-roll rolling mill can achieve single-line torsion-free micro-tension rolling and increase the rolling speed.
Determination of rolling window:
The rolling temperature window of hot-rolled titanium alloys is determined through experiments and simulation analysis to provide a basis for the formulation of hot rolling process regulations.
Blank preparation:
Pure titanium and low-alloyed alloy grades can be supplied in the form of die forging, rolled billets or flat ingots, and high-alloyed alloy grades require free forging.
Rolling procedure formulation:
The formulation of rolling procedures includes billet design, reduction system, speed system, temperature system and other aspects, which need to comprehensively consider material properties, equipment capacity and production efficiency.
Technical features
Hot rolling:
Hot rolling is a rolling process carried out above the recrystallization temperature of metal materials, which can significantly reduce the deformation resistance of materials and improve rolling efficiency.
It is suitable for the production of large-size titanium alloy plates and bars.
Cold rolling:
Cold rolling is a rolling process carried out at room temperature, which can improve the surface quality and dimensional accuracy of materials, but has high requirements on the plasticity of materials.
It is usually used to produce high-precision thin plates and strips.
Reversible rolling:
Reversible rolling means that the rolled piece passes through the rollers multiple times during the rolling process, and the direction of the rolled piece is changed after each pass to improve the anisotropy of the material.
Near-isothermal Rolling:
An innovative rolling concept, which realizes near-isothermal rolling of titanium alloy by controlling deformation amount, deformation speed and rolling cycle, and improves rolling efficiency and material properties.
Extraordinary pass and flexible rolling:
Allows the use of different rolling pass types and rolling systems to adapt to different material properties and production needs.
"One-fire material" new high-efficiency rolling mode:
Through innovative rolling concepts and processes, the efficient production of aviation-grade titanium alloys is achieved, and the weight of small-size wire coils is increased.
Large-size BDM850 fast transverse reversible mill:
An equipment for rolling large-section titanium alloys, which can achieve the shortest pass interval and high-efficiency rolling.
Stepping mill, spiral mill, Y-type mill, planetary mill:
Rolling equipment has its own characteristics and is suitable for the production of bars of different specifications.
The development of titanium alloy rolling technology continues to promote the advancement of material processing technology. By improving rolling technology and rolling equipment, the comprehensive performance of titanium alloy materials can be improved to meet the needs of the high-end market.
